Covering Vancouver ECO Fashion Week

Christmas morning 😘 #somuchlove to a #photographer (at Home Sweet Home)

Winter is here, yet nothing is going to stop us from pulling off a fantastic photoshoot in the woods.

Here are some super quick edited screenshots from today’s fashion commercial made for Averynthe designed by the great Maark Abeenir.

I was very honored to work with such a group of fabulous people - Big shoutout to the talented photographer Sam Kaczur and our fabulous models, MUAs and hairstylists.

Enjoy the photos and our video will be up very soon!

And here he is, fall. You don’t actually know when he arrived, but he ‘is’ here. He stays awhile like an old friend that you have missed; He settles in the way an old friend will settle into your favorite chair and take out his pipe and light it and then fill the afternoon with stories of places he has been and things he has done since last he saw you.

- So… what is new with you, my dear?

He asked.

- Many many things, since last time I saw you. And, hey, I’ve missed you.

I answered.

Let’s just say that this is one of the finest works of art I have seen this year.

The lighting, cinematography, composing, and of course the making of these precious macaroons… Everything has made this video so fine and so beautiful that I have watched it over and over again in the past hour.

Isn’t this the joy of art? Witnessing the ordinary and transforming it to the extraordinary.

Here goes so far my favorite campaign shoot of this season - for Osiria Boutique (check them out at

Basically for this campaign/lookbook, I wanted to present the amazing jeweleries from Osiria Boutique and to give it some characters - around the idea of ‘attitude’. Working with a professional team of people is indeed a true bless, we probably had more laughter than anything else. It was 6 hours of shooting, started at a gorgeous penthouse at Yaletown - I know, already an amazing start; we moved to the edgy back alley at Gastown later in the afternoon, and our beautiful model Anca became the super star that everyone wanted a photo of.

Again, big shotout to the entire team of amazing ladies - Anca, Cherry and Laura.

Happy Shopping y’all :)

Teaser from the campaign I did for Osiria Boutique.

Featuring the beautiful Anca Oală, big thank you to the amazing girl Cherry Xu from Osiria Boutique and our superb location manager Laura Liu. Stay tuned for more release soon!!

Designed for my campaign in the 2nd round for winning the ‘Best Jobs in the World’ - Lifestyle Photographer hosted by Tourism Australia

Weibo (Chinese Twitter) - Received 650,000 hits and 12,000 retweets.
Facebook - Campaign post reached over 40,000 views within 10 days; Weekly total reach hit 33,520, which is a 301.2% increase.

Québec City, je suis en amour avec cette belle petite ville.

Finally we meet, Québec City. I have to say, you are one adorable beauty - full of characters. I was so lucky to stay in the heart of Vieux Québec, and thus, my days there ended up being a lot of delish pastries (if you speak zero French, please please make sure you know how to say: Je voudrais un pain au chocolat s’il vous plaît? aka, can I have a Chocolate Croissant, pls?), chilling up on the hill in front of Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac, reading which enjoying the peaceful Lawrence River, listening to the church’s bell singing and ringing, and your know, just being so timeless and where-less.

I loved it.

Another incredible decision I made on the last day was to get up at 6am in the morning (well, I admit that my original plan was to catch the sunrise, but failed big times trying to figure out which direction the sunrise was at…) and wonder around the alleys when everyone else is still trying to catch the last bits of their maybe-good-or-maybe-bad dreams.

I was dancing on the streets. Literally.

This is how I enjoyed Québec City, really, hands down one of my favorite cities in Canada (well, let’s be honest, there was only Vancouver before this :P). Go and pay a visit, you will not be disappointed.

"Remember those days when we would wake up at 4am to catch the wildness…"

Ever get those moments when you realize that, thanks to the ‘amazing’ modern technology, some of your diaries or photos just can’t be found anymore? I know… it sucks.

I kept a journal when I was shooting my documentary on the east coast of Africa, but after my previous iPhone decided to take a trip without me, those precious pieces of memories can’t be found anymore. All I can do now is to go through all the footage and pictures, so I don’t feel like an old lady who has lost some of her memories.

Anyways, here goes a gorgeous and peaceful morning at Kruger Park in South Africa. This morning fog makes everything look like a beautiful painting.

The mean reds…

Holly Golightly: You know those days when you get the mean reds?

Paul Varjak: The mean reds, you mean like the blues?

Holly Golightly: No. The blues are because you’re getting fat and maybe it’s been raining too long, you’re just sad that’s all. The mean reds are horrible. Suddenly you’re afraid and you don’t know what you’re afraid of. Do you ever get that feeling?

Paul Varjak: Sure.

Holly Golightly: Well, when I get it the only thing that does any good is to jump in a cab and go to Tiffany’s. Calms me down right away. The quietness and the proud look of it; nothing very bad could happen to you there. If I could find a real-life place that’d make me feel like Tiffany’s, then - then I’d buy some furniture and give the cat a name!

Watched Breakfast at Tiffany’s last night because I was feeling a bit lost… You know, one of those nights. Yet sadness decided to come and haunt me even more in the dark. Because I realized I don’t have a Tiffany nor a cat, all I have is my mean reds. :(
